In 2007, Ghana redenominated their currency by removing four zeros.

10,000 GHC became 1 GHC. This move reduced high cash handling.

Before this, the Cedi was one of the weakest currency in Africa, 1 US Dollar was equal to 9,200 Cedi.

Today, the Cedi is Africa's sixth strongest currency. 1 USD equals 15.49 GHC.

Redenomination does not change the real value of the currency, just numerical expression.
